Q. Why does time seem to go by so quickly when we are doing things we love and enjoy?
We sense that you feel it should be the opposite. When you get caught up in something that catches your interest, that deeply intrigues you - it is a most worthwhile endeavor. When you get lost, you are actually found. You are present. You are in the benevolent moment of the ever present now. And now is all there is.
Art teaches you that now is all that there is. Now and now and now. Since time is a construct that the human race experiences for many reasons, it is the perception of moving faster or slower that you experience. Getting lost has a negative connotation to human beings. Yet, getting lost and allowing yourself to fly, venture, and create is the surest path to self connection. Losing yourself in the creative process opens up the connection between your heart & soul and educates your mind about where you wish your conscious self to steer you in life.
When you allow yourself to experience timelessness lost in an effort of creation, it focuses your mind, trains your consciousness, reminds you of who you are and who you want to be, entrains the feeling of being in the ever present now. Through the experience, it allows you to meditate with eyes open, living life fully. By taking your attention and placing it on the act in front of you, it allows you to lose yourself to the act. The loss of self through the act, creates or rather, tunes you in to your connection to all. It reminds you of who you really are.
Q. Why endeavor to do art?
It is expression that you seek. An expression from within. An expression of love and honesty, of something that you can’t quite reach or touch in the moment. The concentration required is a worthwhile endeavor by itself. The focus and concentration required to do “a thing” helps train your mind in all the ways that interest you. You are human. You are inherently a creator. You are a creator at heart.
